Abstract

Election Tabulations for the Special Election: Referendum & Proposed Constitutional Amendments, held on November 2, 1971. Also includes local elections held on 2/1/1971. Referendum Question: "Shall the corporate and individual Maine Income Tax Law be Repealed?" ; Proposed Constitutional Amendment No. 1: "Shall the Constitution be amend as proposed by a resolution of the Legislature to reduce the voting are to eighteen years?"; Proposed Constitutional Amendment No. 2: "Shall the Constitution be amended as proposed by a resolution of the Legislature providing that the term of office of the Governor continues until his successor has qualified; Proposed Constitutional Amendment No. 3: "Shall the Constitution be amended as proposed by a resolution of the Legislature pledging credit of the State and Providing for the insurance of bonds not exceeding four million dollars for loans for Maine students in higher education?"
